Lions keep the ball moving with a 2-0 weekend at North Park

CHICAGO, Illinois-- The Mount St. Joseph University women's volleyball team traveled up to North Park University for a two match weekend against Blackburn and North Park. This Weekend brought us very close to a milestone for our only Senior on the team this year. Karlie Schell 5 digs away from 1,000 career digs. 

The Mount started off the weekend facing Blackburn. The Lions would be led offensively by Brooke Aselage once again. Brooke had 16 kills to 1 error on 29 attempts (.517 kill %). As a squad the lions combined for 13 total aces. Schell of course led the way on the defense with 18 digs, Aselage with 10, and Brooklyn Brunner with 9. The Lions would come out with a win after a (25-14, 27-25, and 25-22) 3 set win against the Blaburn Beavers.

 

Following that match at around 4 PM the lions would get back on the court against host North Park VIkings. Makayla Chambers and Kyla Henderson led the front row with a combined 4 blocks. Riley GintertBrunner, and Schell where a force to be reckoned with on defense leading the way to a team combined 53 digs. Aselage had her usual night on offense it seems with 16 kills and 7errors on 48 attempts (.188 kill %). Kyla Henderson would post 9 kills on 20 attempts with 2 errors (.350 kill %). The lions would end up winning against North Park in a very close game each set finsihing 25-23 in a 3-0 win for MSJ.
