Anderson, Ind. – The Mount St. Joseph women's soccer team traveled this past weekend to take on conference competitor Anderson University. The Lions entered the contest with a 5-4-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 conference record while the Ravens of Anderson University entered with a 7-1-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 conference record.
The Lions entered the game hoping to bounce back from their double overtime tie on Wednesday, but the Ravens had other plans. The game would start our pretty slow for both teams, with just two shots coming within the first 15 minutes that favored the Ravens side. Little action would continue to happen until the 31stminute when Anderson would score off a corner kick, giving them the 1-0 lead. The Lions would get a couple of chances before the end of the half but were unable to hit any on frame and would enter the half down one goal. The Lions were out shot 8-4 in the first half.
With the second half underway the Ravens would take long to capitalize and build their lead over the Lions. They would get their second goal in the 53rdminute with a ball over top the Lions defense and right in between the Lions goal keep and the crossbar. The Lions would get chances on goal again in the second half but would end up unlucky with none getting past the Ravens goalkeeper. The Ravens would seal their win in the 85thminute with one more goal, ultimately defeating the Lions 3-0. Both teams ended up with 16 shots each in the 90 minutes of play.
