Lions finish second in rain-shortened StateLine Shootout

CINCINNATI, Ohio-- The Mount St. Joseph women's golf team got their 2018 season underway this past weekend, as they hosted the Stateline Shootout at Miami Whitewater Forest. The welcomed Ohio Wesleyan, Anderson, Thomas More, St. Mary of the Woods, Oakland City, Bluffton, and Manchester to Cincinnati for what was supposed to be a two-day event. After weather forced a cancelation of Saturday's round, the tournament was shortened to only an 18 hole event.

The Lions were able to register a team score of 344, good for second place behind Ohio Wesleyan's 340. All five of The Mount's golfers registered scores under 100 on the round. Emma Schrand (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and Hayley Quatman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the way for the Lions as they each fired in rounds of 82. For Quatman her 82 set a new career low for a round. They tied for second place in the individual standings. Freshman Patricia Windholtz (Newark, Ohio/Newark) shot an 86 in her first collegiate round of golf, Carissa Pitts (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood) and Sara Eads (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) registered rounds of 95 and 96 respectively.

Ohio Wesleyan was able to capture both the Team and Individual Stateline Title.

The Lions will return to the course next Saturday as they travel to Powell, Ohio for the Safari Fall Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
