LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - The 2019 Easton/NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year recipients were announced on Tuesday afternoon. Among those honored was our very own DeeDee Morris the assistant coach of the Mount St. Joseph University softball team.
These awards salute the efforts of coaches from the various NFCA membership categories for their tireless dedication to the sport of softball and to the continued education, growth and development of young women, both on and off the playing field.
The winners were nominated by NFCA member coaches and selected by a panel of their peers on the NFCA Awards Committee.
This award comes after the Lions had an amazing 2019 season, and coach Morris is a very important peice of that puzzle. Since her arrival on campus, along with the steadying hand of head coach Beth Goderwis the Lions have been on a steady climb up the HCAC standings. That culminated for them in last season's record breaking 35-7 campaign. Which helped them to secure the first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship in program history.
"Its an honor to get the share the field with Coach Morris." Said Coach Goderwis "She is the most deserving person in the nation for this award, having DeeDee as a steady fixture in our program over the past four years has been invaluable. We would not have had this run of success the last few years without her, and with her as a part of the program we only hope to have higher levels of success."
