Lions move to 2-0 with 5-2 win over Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Alabama - In game two of today's double-header the Lions faced off with the host of the weekend's festivities the Hawks of Huntingdon College. After a game one in which the Lions struggled to get going offensively, they exploded to 13 hits and 5 runs in a 5-2 game two win.

The Mount sent ace Sarah Miller (Fischers, Ind./St. Theodore Guerin) to the mound to start game two. Miller picked up right where she left off last season, throwing a complete game allowing only two runs. Miller did allow eight hits and a pair of walks, but did a fantastic job of working around trouble to get her first win of the season.

The Lions banged out 13 hits in the game, including three doubles. Four different MSJ hitters registered multi-hit games in the contest Savannah Sturgill (West Harrison, Ind./East Central) led the way with three hits. While Katie Tarter (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfiel), Makayla Hanes (New Paris, Ohio/Greenville) and Miller all chipped in a pair. Five different Lions all drove in a single run, Alehia Tucker (Covington, Ky./Holy Cross), Brooke Otto (Brookville, Ind./Franklin Co.), and Gracie Woodyard (Plainfield, Ind./Avon) joined Miller and Tarter with an RBI.

The game was an outstanding team win for the Lions, they coupled dominant starting pitching with oustanding offense to put away the Hawks early.
