The Lions women's and men's track and field team competed this past weekend at the Capital University Invitational. The Lions were able to finish 6th place as a combined team, with both the men's and women's teams finishing 7th, respectively. The Lions broke several school records and 17 athletes achieved season personal records in a great showing for The Mount.
On the men's side, Tre'on Taylor (Orlando, FL / Winter Park) broke the school record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.09, finishing in third place. Arvonte Neal (Florence, Ariz. / Florence) broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.66, resulting in an 8th place finish. Freshman Cameron Willis (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) earned 1st place in the high jump and 3rd place in the long jump, with Neal finishing right behind him at 4th in the long jump. In the 4000 meter medley relay, the Lions finished in 4th place led by Matt Bruner (Dillsboro, IN / South Dearborn), John Schonauer (Anderson, Ohio / Anderson), Ben Gray (Napoleon, OH / Pettisville) and Luke Danis (Yellow Springs, OH / Carroll).
For the women, Anna Schoester (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) broke two school records in pole vaulting and 60 meter hurdles. In pole vaulting she was able to earn 2nd place with a height of 3.45M (11 feet 3.82 in) and in the 60 meter hurdles she earned 7th place with a time of 9.74. Kiersten Lux (Waldron, IN / Waldron) earned 8th place for her record breaking weight throw distance of 13.16M (43 feet 2.11 in). The group of Emily Salmons (Harrison, Ohio / Harrison), Emma McPeek (Dupont, Ind. / Jennings County), Jamie Lenart (Sylvania, Ohio / Notre Dame Academy), and Maria Waters (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy) earned 5th place in the 4000 meter distance medley relay.
