ANDERSON, Indiana -- The Mount St. Joseph men's tennis team traveled to Anderson, Ind. to take on Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe the Ravens of Anderson University.
The Lions under first year head coach Joel Scudder, have gotten off to a slow start. Senior Nate Clark (Cincinnati, Ohio/Miami Valley Christian Academy) got the Lions their first singles win of the season. Playing in the No. 1 singles spot for the Lions he took down his opponent 7-5, 6-3.
Clark and his doubles partner Guy Watkins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Purcell Marian) gave it a valiant effort in their doubles matchup. Losing their second doubles match of the season, and again it was very tight. They fell 9-7 to the No. 1 doubles team from Anderson.
Former Mount St. Joseph all-conference men's basketball player Jake Cropper (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) is also competing as a part of the tennis team this season. In the No. 3 singles match, he was able to take three sets off of his opponent in game one. He eventually fell by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
The Lions will take to the court again on Saturday as they play their first home match of the season. The will welcome Pikeville to the tennis courts on the campus of The Mount, the match is scheduled to get underway at 12:00 PM.
