RICHMOND, Ind. - The Mount St. Joseph men's lacrosse team travelled to Earlham College to take on the Quakers in another conference competition. The Lions tied the first quarter but could not keep it up and that resulted in a final score of 18-4 in favor of the Quakers.
The Quakers would get off to a quick lead scoring the first two goals of the game. The Lions would go on to come back to tie the game after Kevin McClanahan (Madeira,Ohio/Madeira) and Tony Behler (Cincinnati,Ohio/Elder) both scored unassisted goals. Both teams wouldn't find the back of the net for the rest of the quarter. Quarter number two went to the Quakers are they found a way to gain six more goals and increase their lead over The Mount. As the halftime buzzer sounded The Lions were trailing 8-2.
In the third quarter The Mount would strike first when Matt Stecht (Erlganer,Ky./Holy Cross) pushed his way through the Quaker defense and scoring an unassisted goal. Unfortunately, The Lions would not make a mark on the scoreboard for the rest of the quarter while Earlham was able to obtain eight more goals. The fourth quarter followed in the same fashion as the third with The Lions scoring first when McClanahan scored off of an assist from Stecht. This took the teams total to four and McClanahan's season total to 17 goals. The Mount held Earlham to two goals in the final quarter of the game. The game ended and The Lions fell 18-4 to another conference opponent. Austin Lowery (Indianapolis,Ind./Roncalli) achieved 13 saves throughout the duration of the game. TJ Ahrens (Cincinnati,Ohio/St. Xavier) led the team in ground balls snagging six during the four quarters.
