DELHI, OH - The Mount St. Joseph University men's lacrosse team took on the visiting Bison of Bethany College in a home game matchup. The Lions hit a stride late in the game but it wasn't enough to secure a win and they finished the game losing 11-4.
The game started off in favor of the Bison as they were able to quickly score on The Lions. The Bison took a quick 2-0 lead within the first three minutes to the start of the game. The Bison were able to score one more goal in the first quarter before The Lions were able to get on the board. Senior Austin Lowery (Indianapolis, IN / Roncalli) scored his first goal of the season off of an assist by sophomore Noah Borgdorf (Bellevue, MI / Bellevue) with just 27 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Lions entered the second quarter down 3-1 hoping to continue an attack of the Bison's defense. Unfortunately, the Bison had other plans as they were able to score two more goals before The Lions were able to find the back of the net again. The Lions second goal of the game came off of another assist from Borgdorf to junior Spencer Dufresne (Dayton, OH / Chaminade-Julienne) who also earned his first goal of the season. The Lions entered the half trailing the Bison 5-2.
After the half The Lions struggled to keep up as the Bison went on an attack. The Bison were able to score three unanswered goals over the span of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was when The Mount hit a little bit of their stride. The Bison were able to score three more goals before The Mount scored their last two games. The Lions scored two goals within the last two minutes of the game. Tony Behler (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) received an assist from Borgdorf to give The Lions their third goal of the game. The Mount was able to get one more goal before time expired when Borgdorf took control and found a way to get the ball in to the back of the net unassisted with only 42 seconds left in the game. Even with The Mount getting two goals late in the game it wasn't enough for a victory. The Lions ended up falling to the Bison of Bethany College 11-4.
