CINCINNATI, OH - The Lions of Mount St. Joseph University hosted the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University on a snowy covered Schueler Field. The Lions fell behind early and didn't have enough time to come back and finished the game down 3-7.
The first half belonged to Oglethorpe as they scored three goals in the first quarter and one in the second. This was a lead that would be tough for The Lions to come back from but The Mount wasn't giving up. The snow picked up at the beginning of the second half and so did the intensity of The Lions. The Mount was able to sneak a goal past the goalie with Kevin McClanahan (Madeira, OH/ Madeira) getting an assist from Tony Behler (Cincinnati, OH/ Elder) to put The Lions on the board. Oglethorpe was able to achieve three more before the quarter came to a close.
The fourth quarter belonged solely to The Lions as they were able to hit their stride with Seth Poirier (Somerville, OH/ Talawanda) scored his first two goals of the season with an assist from Behler and Noah Borgdorf (Bellevue, MI / Bellevue). Unfortunately the time ran out before The Mount could take the lead and finished falling to the Petrels 3-7. The Mount's goalie Dakota Lambing (West Chester, OH/ Lakota East) totaled 11 saves helping keep The Lions competitive during the game.
The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, March 6th at 7PM against Hanover College on Schueler Field. Continue to check msjsports.com for more updates on the 2019 Men's Lacrosse season.
