Lions come out with dominate win on Senior Day

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH (Harrington Center)

THE BASICS:

In the Lions last home game of the season they recognized their four seniors Jadah Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis), Riley Brashear (Maineville, OH / Kings), Hannah Losey (Tipp City, OH / Tippecanoe), and Rachel Barnes (Williamsburg, OH / Clermont Northeastern). After the celebration the Lions quickly got down to business with a dominating win over Manchester University. The Lions wouldn't drop a set as they went on to win the match in a 3-0 sweep to send the seniors out with a bang.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Lions found themselves down early in the first set but a service run by Karlie Schell (West Harrison, IN / Franklin County) brought them back in the set. Manchester wouldn't lose hope as they continued to battle for the lead. The Mount would take the lead with a service run by Sydney Wilzbach (Cincinnati, OH / Northwest) and wouldn't look Manchester made the Mount fight to gain the lead. Neither team was able to take a lead until service runs by Sydney Wilzbach and Riley Brunner (Lawrenceburg, IN / Lawrenceburg) put the match out of reach. Manchester would find the floor a few more times but a kill by Cailey Plemmons (Oxford, OH / Talawanda) gave the Lions the set 25-17.  In the final set the Spartans made sure to give the Lions a run for their money. Manchester would get off to an early lead but the Lions would it with a run of their own. The score was kept within two points for most of the set with neither team able to gain momentum. In the final points the score was tied with two points to spare but the Lions found a way to finish the match. A kill by Cailey Plemmons secured the Lions win 25-22 and the match 3-0.

THE STANDOUTS:

Briana Looney (Harrison, OH / Harrison) continued her offensive tear to lead the Lions with 17 kills while also grabbing six blocks. Karlie Schell protected the back row with 17 digs to lead the defense.

The Lions (13-11, 3-4) get closer to the end of their season as they travel to Transylvania University (17-7, 6-2) this Wednesday 10/25 at 7PM.
