Lions come up short in cross town matchup

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH

THE BASICS:

The Lions took on Cincinnati Christian University this Wednesday night. Early in the match they struggled to find their offense and were defeated 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Lions quickly found themselves at a deficit in the first set. Cincinnati Christian found the floor early and continued to capitalize on the Lions mistakes. After being defeated 25-15 the Lions quickly found their rhythm in the second set. The Lions fought point for point, neither team willing to give up momentum. The Lions were able to find offense from Hannah Losey (Tipp City, OH / Tippecanoe) to give them the lead. A few points later the Lions took set two 25-23. In the final two sets the Lions continued to struggle offensively. Cincinnati Christian quickly gained a lead and wouldn't look back. The Lions couldn't get a stop and lost the third set 25-15. Looking to extend the game the Lions went back and forth with their opponents. Late in the game Cincinnati Christian was able to go on a run to finish the set 25-18.

THE STANDOUTS:

The Lions offense was led by Hannah Losey with 12 kills and two block assist. On defense Cailey Plemmons (Oxford, OH / Talawanda) grabbed 17 digs while Briana Looney (Harrison, OH / Harrison) defended the net with five blocks.

The Lions continue their road trip, traveling to Baldwin Wallace University to take part in their tournament this weekend Friday 9/22 and Saturday 9/23.
