Location/Meet: Greencastle, IN/ DePauw Indoor Invitational
The Mount St. Joseph track team traveled to DePauw University for another weekend of competition on 2/11. These ladies seem to be improving as their season goes on, which is good for the development of the team. A couple of athletes were able to make an impact and help their team by scoring in their individual event. Maria Waters (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) was able to score in two events in the meet. In the 600m race she ran a 1:51 to finish sixth and score 3 points for her team. She also ran the mile in 6:03, which got her eighth place and 1 more point. Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH/ Lakota West) was able to contribute for the Lions as well. Emma ran the 800m race in a time of 2:43. This put her in seventh place and scored 2 points for the Lions. The biggest influence for the Lions came from freshman Andi Meyer (Ft. Loramie, OH/ Ft. Loramie). She finished sixth in the high jump clearing 1.50m and scoring 3 points in that event. Andi was also able to top all the competition in the Pole Vault to finish first in the meet. She jumped a height of 3.20m to score 10 points for the Lions.
The final team score for the Lions was 28 points. This was good enough for them to finish ninth out of the thirteen teams.
The Mount St. Joseph Lions will travel to Terre Haute, IN this Saturday 2/18, to participate in the HCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.
