Women's tennis defeats Miami-Middletown in first win

CINCINNATI, Ohio—The Lions women's tennis team won their first contest of the 18-19 season in an 8-1 victory over Miami-Middletown.

The Lions started the day off with the doubles portion, where the Lions would go on to win the first two matches and win the final match in a walkover. Hanna Broermann (Okeana, Ohio / Badin) and Kelsey Knodell (Delaware, Ohio / Rutherford B. Hayes) won their first duos match of the season in an 8-5 victory. Jessica Berger (Milan, Indiana / Milan) and Allison Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio / Seton) followed and defeated their opponents 8-3 to secure their first wins of the season.

The Lions went on to win 3 of 6 singles matches against the ThunderHawks and the final two matches were wins by walkover. Katie Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio / Taylor) continues to shine in her collegiate career as she is 4-1 through three contest. Tessa Mayes (Cincinnati, Ohio / Colerain), Broermann, and Fellinger won their solo matches to improve the Lions record to 1-2.

The Lions return to the the Mounts courts this Wednesday 9/19 at 6Pm against Rose-Hulman.
