Lions continue win streak with win over Trine University

The Basics:

The Lions matched up against Thunder of Trine University in their second match of the weekend. Neither team was able to get on the board in the first half but the Lions bounced back to score two goals in the second half to take the 2-0 victory.

How it Happened:

The Lions weren't able to get on the board in the first half but were able to take 12 shots. Trine wasn't able to get past the Lions defense to find a goal in the first half leading to a 0-0 halftime score. The Lions picked up their play in the second half starting with a goal from Jodie Weimer (Cleves, OH / Taylor) in the 69th minute to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Lions stayed aggressive on offense, taking 16 shots in the second half. Paige Mersmann (Florence, KY / Boone County) connected with the net from outside the box in the 83rd minute to solidify the Lions 2-0 victory.

Standouts:

Weimer and Mersmann scored both goals for the Lions to lead them to victory. The Lions defense only allowed the Thunder to take eight shots during the match.
