The Basics:

Bouncing back from a tough loss this Saturday, the Mount traveled to Transylvania University on Thursday, 10/5 to take on the Pioneers. The Mount grabbed a 2-0 lead right before the half, and scored two more unanswered to start the second half. The Pioneers fought back with two goals of their own, bringing the final score to 4-2. Concluding this victory, the Mount's record rises to 10-2 for the year and 1-1 in the HCAC.

How it Happened:

It was a back and forth affair until the 38th minute with midfielder Lindsey Potzick (Harrison, OH/Harrison) scoring a goal to give the Mount the lead.  Within the minute, Potzick was able to find the back of the net again, with the assist from forward Lauren Haynes (Hamilton, OH/Ross). The Mount would continue their scoring ways in the second half with a goal from forward Alley Schmidt (Aurora, IN/ Lawrenceburg), assisted by Jasmine Cahill (Independence, KY/Simon Kenton) in the 56th minute. In the 60th minute, forward Paige Mersmann (Florence, KY/Boone County.) scored a goal with the assist from Ariel Huber (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond). Transylvania eventually scored with a goal in the 68th and 70th minute, bringing the final tally to 4-2 Mount St. Joseph. Goalkeeper Michelle Hessling (Hamilton, OH/ Hamilton Badin) protected the net well with 2 saves of her own. The Pioneers goalkeeper, on the other hand, was very busy with a total of 27 shots from the lady lions.

The offensive play from Lindsey Potzick gave the Mount a commanding lead early, which continued for the rest of the game. Potzick's goals gave confidence to the rest of the team, resulting in two more goals.
