Four Lions find their way into the top 8 with one achieving 2nd

NORTH MANCHESTER, IN - The Lions traveled to Manchester University to do battle against the 21 institutions that were represented at the 2019 Spartan Mat Classic in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. The Mount was able to have four wrestlers crack the top 8 in their weight class.

Jake Gentry (Ross, Ohio / Ross) was able to come back after a loss to regain his position and finish the day 4 for 5 and in the 8th place spot. Chucky Lipps (Cincinnati, Ohio / Elder) took to the mat a total of 7 times during the invitation to rally after a first round loss to win 4 straight to fall one more time and finish his day with a tie to share the 8th place spot.

In the 197 weight class Antonio McCloud (Cincinnati, Ohio / Elder) continues to be a force for the Mount St. Joseph wrestling program winning 3 out of his 4 matches pinning two opponents before having to withdraw in the championship match due to injury.

Our heavyweight Cameron Sauerwein (Harrison, Ohio / Harrison) went 3 for 6 pinning an opponent before dropping a few matches but still being able to snag the 8th place spot for the Lions.
