Elliott Spence has been recently hired on as the new head coach for Mount St. Joseph Wrestling, but building a program from the bottom up is not an easy task by far. Coach Spence has found some very experienced people to come in and help him revamp the program. Joshua Sasfy, Charles Mason, and Orlando Scales have been brought on as Assistant Coaches. Every assistant that he has hired brings something different to the table to give these athletes a different perspective on the sport of wrestling. These assistants have personal experience in the sport and are decorated with many awards over their years of competing. Having these assistants will be a huge advantage for the program to get these athletes ready for the upcoming season.
Joshua Sasfy comes from Reynoldsburg, Ohio where he was a 4-year Varsity Wrestler and State Qualifier in 2003 as well as Team Captain. He is a MSJ wrestling Alum, and was a four year Varsity Wrestler, Academic All American and multiple time Regional Placer. He comes from a wrestling family with 2 brothers wrestling in college as well, Tommy Sasfy (Kent State) and Nick Sasfy (University of Cumberlands). Josh has coached the previous 7 years at Mason High school who was ranked 31st in the nation last year with 7 consecutive GMC championships and 6 top 5 district finishes. He brings an international flavor to MSJ being the owner of Barbarian Apparel who outfitted 8 Olympic teams in the Rio Olympics and has customers in 15 different countries. He hopes to use his contacts internationally to help give the MSJ wrestlers an opportunity most teams do not get.
