Lions keep momentum going to secure victory against Waynesburg

Location: John F. Wiley Stadium (Waynesburg, PA)

The Basics:

The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse faced off against the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg University.  The Mount dominated the field coming up with a halftime score of 12-0 and a final score of 18-2 sealing another conference victory and keeping their 5th place spot in conference.

How it Happened:

The Lions kept the fire going from Wednesday nights game running the entire first half.  Kara Marshall (Cleveland, OH/ Laurel) scored first within the first 40 second and four total for the first half.  Next Brianna Brannon (Cincinnati, Oh/ Seton) took a free position shot for teammate Halfhill who had to be taken out for a bloody lip.  After Brannon's goal Courtney Gleason (Cincinnati, OH/ Seton) scored four in a row, she will get one more later in the first to bring total in half to five.  Maria Sams (Cincinnati, OH/ Oak Hills) snuck into offense from defense to score her goal for the game.  Grace Crawford (Cincinnati, OH/ Wyoming) was also able to make her mark in the  first half with a goal.

When the second came around Marshall made another quick showing in the first 20 seconds to bring her game total to 5 with an assistant from Brannon.  Brannon and Gleason start the second off with an unassisted goal each. With a comfortable lead of 15-0 it was time to share the ball with the new Mount St. Joseph lacrosse members.  Sarah WInsted (Ross, OH/ Ross) got her second goal of the season unassisted and using her non dominant hand.  Jaylah Mason (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) and Emma Lickert (Centerville, OH/ Centerville) each scored their first collegiate goals to bring the Mount's total to 18.  Waynesburg was able to score two goals in the second half and while they may have had the last goal the Lions had the last laugh with the final score of 18-2.
