DECATUR, Illinois - The Mount St. Joseph women's golf team traveled to Decatur, Illinois to take part in the Millikin Dechert Classic over the weekend. The Lions continued their consistent play finishing in the top three for consecutive weekends.
The Mount was again led by junior Emma Schrand (Cincinnati, Ohio/McCauley) who has been the model of consistency atop the Lions lineup. She did struggle a bit in the opening round firing in a 11-over par 84. She followed that up with an outstanding 3-over par 76 on day two, to get her to 160 overall for the tournament good for 4th place overall. Schrand second round 76 was a career low for 18 holes, and her 160 was a career low for 36.
The Lions picked up their leader on day one, as all four scores that counted toward the team average were lower than 86. Giving the team their 18 team scoring record of 341. Hayley Quatman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McCauley) was the Lions second best finisher with consecutive rounds in the 80's (86, 87).
Sara Eads (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) was able to set consecutive career 18-hole lows, with a first round 88 and a second round 84. Her overal score of 172 was also good for a career low.
The Lions will hit the links again next weekend as they travel to the Earlham College Fall Invitational.
