TIFFIN, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph women's golf team traveled to the Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio to take part in the Heidelberg Fall Invitational. It was one of the Lions better finishes of the young season as the finished third in the fifteen team field.
The Mount was second on the leaderboard after the first round as they fired in a team score of 357, trailing only the eventual champions, The College of Wooster who shot a team score of 339 in round one. The Lions were led in round one by three scores in the 80's as Emma Schrand (Cincinnati, Ohio/McCauley) led the way with an 83 which had her tied for fourth overall. Hayley Quatman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McCauley) and Patricia Windholtz (Newark, Ohio/Newark) joined Schrand in the 80's, with an 87 and 89 respectively.
In round two it was much of the same for The Mount, Schrand and Quatman each carded an 86 to lead the way. Although no other players were in the 80's for round two the team was able to card their second consecutive 357 as a team. Ohio Northern was able to pass the Lions to finish second as a team, but a third place finish in a tournament of this caliber is very respectable.
Emma Schrand and Hayley Quatman both finished in the top ten as individuals for The Mount, in a tournament that saw them face off with four other HCAC opponents. They were the highest finishing HCAC competitors in the tournament.
