Three Lions named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida (July 3, 2018) – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced today with a total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor.  The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. The 2017-2018 WGCA All-American Scholar Team features three Mount St. Joseph University women's golfers.

Sophomore Emma Schrand (Cincinnati, OH/McCauley), was joined on the list by a pair of freshman Isabella Olthaus (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and Hannah Schorsch (Harrison, OH/Harrison).

The 2017-18 Lions golf team was a rebirth of sorts under coach Joe Sparhawk. The Lions were able to register their first team score in nearly two years at the State Line Shootout. The highlight of their season the Lions were able to finish second in the tournament, with WGCA All-American Schrand taking home the individual victory.

The Lions return everyone from 2017-18 to next years squad, with the addition of a pair of high-level freshman the Lions will look to continue their climb toward the top of the HCAC.
