CINCINNATI, Ohio - In the first of three games scheduled this week for the Lions, they welcomed the Barons of Franciscan to the Harrington Center.
The game was extremely tight statistically, each team shot 34 percent from the field in the game. Both the Barons and Lions also each made seven three-pointers in the game. The Lions though dominated three very important statistical categories in the game. They were able to register nine more field goal attempts than the Barons. This was in large part due to the fact that they caused 18 Franciscan turnovers, and outrebounded them 42-36. The Mount was able to capitalize on the 18 turnovers to the tune of 17 points of turnovers.
The first quarter was extremely tight, the Lions carried a 10-9 lead into the second. The second quarter was where they would seperate themselves, largely on the back of Alehia Tucker (Convington, KY./Holy Cross). Tucker scored 12 points in the quarter, as she registered four good old fashioned three-point plays in the quarter.
The Lions carried a 38-21 lead into the second half and never looked back, they dominated play in the second half. Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, Ohio/Little Miami) led the way with her first double-double of the season. Studer stuffed the stat sheet all over, she poured in a game-high 23 points, adding 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.
Wednesday the Lions will welcome the Fighting Scots of Wooster to the Harrington Center. The game is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 PM.
