Mount St. Joseph Women's Basketball Season Comes to an End

Location: Sommer Center (Bluffton, OH)

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph traveled for their first game of the HCAC tournament against the Beavers of Bluffton.  The Lions fought hard to challenge the Beavers on their home court.  The Mount led the Beavers at halftime 36-30.  In the second half the score remained close.  The Lions lost the lead in the third quarter and fell to the Beavers with a final score of 69-58.

How it Happened:

The game started close with both teams trading the lead.  The Beavers were able to grab the lead at the end of the first with the score at 16-14.  The Lions had a huge second quarter outscoring Bluffton 22-14.  Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH/ Little Miami) was able to explode offensively, scoring 9 points in the quarter to give the Lions the lead 36-30 going into halftime.  Coming out of the locker room the Beavers were able to regain the lead.  They were ahead of the Lions 51-46 going into the final quarter of play.  The Lions fought hard to get back the lead, but came up short to the Beavers with a final score of 69-58.

Standouts:

The Lions were led by Studer who totaled 23 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds.  She was able to make an impact on both sides of the ball to keep the Lions in the game.  Hayley Hudson (Ross, OH/ Ross) also performed well, totaling 10 points and 8 rebounds.
