Lions defeated on the road by Earlham

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph faced Earlham in the last game of the regular season. Earlham was able to take control of the game early, outscoring the Lions in the first quarter. The Lions found themselves down 33-16 at the half.  This lead was too large for the Lions as they were defeated with a final score of 63-35.

How it Happened:

The Mount struggled with Earlham from the beginning of the game.  The Lions were outscored in the first quarter 17-9.  The team couldn't get a hold of the momentum to get back the lead before the end of the first half.  They trailed Earlham 33-16 going into halftime.  The second half was controlled by Earlham as they continued to control the lead.  The deficit was too much for the Lions as they were defeated with a final score of 63-35. 

Standouts:

Alehia Tucker (Covington, KY/ Holy Cross) lead the team in scoring with 13 points in the contest. She was also able to make a big impact on defense totaling 5 steals.   

Up Next:

The Lions will start their tournament play next Tuesday, 2/20.  They will travel to face the Beavers of Bluffton as tipoff is set for 7:30 PM.
