Lions fall in tough road loss against Transy

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph found themselves in trouble against Transylvania early in the game.  The Pioneers were able to take a lead in the first quarter 23-12.  The Lions fought hard to try and get back in the game but struggled on the offensive end.  They were defeated by the Pioneers with a final score of 77-49.

How it Happened:

The game started close between both teams.  The score was 4-6 in the first quarter when the Pioneers started to take off.  They were able to produce some offense and take a demanding lead over the Lions at the end of the first quarter.  The score was 23-12 as the Lions looked to get back in it.  The Lions fought hard but still found themselves down at the end of the first half with the score at 40-24. The second half was the same story as the Pioneers continued to dominate.  The lead was too much for The Mount, and the Lions were defeated with a final score of 77-49.

Standouts:

The Mount was led by Center Aliyah Huff (Cincinnati, OH/ Roger Bacon) who finished the game with 10 points, 2 blocks, and 5 rebounds.  Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH/ Little Miami) was also able to make an impact with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Up Next:

The Lions (10-12, 6-9) will travel to Franklin, IN to continue HCAC play.  They will face the Grizzlies of Franklin (6-15, 5-10) on Saturday 2/10 as tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
