The Mount comes out with win at home against Anderson

Location: Harrington Center (Cincinnati, OH)

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph faced another HCAC competitor in the Ravens of Anderson University. The lead would go back and forth between both teams making for a close contest. Anderson held the lead at Halftime 30-25. The Mount came out of the Locker room and outscored the Ravens 20-8 in the third quarter. The Lions would maintain the lead and defeat Anderson 53-57.

How it Happened:

The game started as a close contest between both teams. The Lions would lead after one quarter 16-13, with multiple athletes contributing on the offensive end. Anderson would jump into the lead in the second quarter 30-25. This would be the score as both teams headed into halftime The Lions came out strong as a team in the second half. They outscored the Ravens 20-8 in the third quarter. This put them in the lead 45-38 to start the final quarter of play. The Ravens would try to get back in the game in the fourth, but the Lions came out on top defeating Anderson with a final score of 57-53.

Standouts:

It was a team win for the Lions as multiple athletes were able to get involved on both the offensive and defensive end. The Mount totaled 18 steals in the game and forced the Ravens to turn the ball over 28 times. Maddie Haberthy (Cincinnati, OH/ Mother of Mercy) led the team with 11 points and was also able to record 4 steals on the night. Hayley Hudson (Ross, OH/ Ross) led the team with 11 rebounds in the Lions win, as she totaled 9 points and 5 assists.

The Lions (9-8, 5-5) will travel to Terre Haute, IN to face Rose-Hulman (14-3, 10-0) in another HCAC battle. Tipoff is set for next Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 PM.
