Mount St. Joseph Challenged by HCAC Competitor

The Basics:  

The Lions struggled early against the Grizzlies.  They trailed at half time 21-38 and continued to have a hard time stopping Franklin in the third quarter.  The Lions were able to rally together and produce some offense in the fourth quarter, but Franklin was able to hold off the comeback and get the win 64-52.

How it Happened:

Mount St. Joseph was challenged early by the Grizzlies.  During the First Quarter the Lions were outscored 8-15.  As the first half continued, Lainee Studer was able to produce some offense to keep the Lions in the game. She led the Lions with 10 points at the end of the first half.  The Lions trailed the Grizzlies 21-38 going into the locker room for halftime.

The Lions came into the second half looking to get back into the game.  The third quarter was tough for Mount St. Joseph as Franklin outscored them 19-11 to increase their lead to 32-57 going into the fourth quarter.  The Lions kept fighting to get back in the game.  The offense was starting to score and the lions decreased the lead to 12 points after back to back three pointers by Krystal Wannemacher (Payne, OH / Wayne Trace) and Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH / Little Miami) with 0:43 left in the game.  The Lions came up short as Franklin was able to make some late free throws to seal the win.  The Lions fell to the Grizzlies with a final score of 64-52.

Standouts:

Lainee Studer led the team with 25 points and 5 rebounds as she continues to be a great weapon for Mount St. Joseph.  Krystal Wannemacher finished with 7 points, and Hayley Hudson (Ross, OH / Ross) scored 7 points as well coming off of the bench.
