FRANKLIN, Indiana – The Mount St. Joseph University track & field team competed in the Franklin College Invitational on Saturday. The Lions performed well and broke multiple personal records. The men's team finished in 2nd place while the women's finished in 2ndplace out of five teams.
Starting with the men's, a host of Lions earned a first place finish. Drew Stark (Cincinnati, OH / Roger Bacon) ran a time of 58.50 in the 400 meter hurdles, which was good for first place. Cameron Willis (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) placed first in two events, the 400 meter run and the high jump. He ran 50.70 in the 400 meter run and jumped 1.78meters in the high jump. Kevin Polking (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) ran 11:22.67 in the 3000 meter steeplechase that lead to him to winning the event. De'Andro Atmodimedjo (Coral Springs, FL / Coral Glades) came in first in the triple jump with a jump of 10.87 meters. The Lions still managed to perform well in other events. Andre Anderson (Newport, KY / Newport) finished 4th in the shot put with a distance of 11.31 meters. Nate Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio / Elder) finished in 5th right behind Anderson with a throw 11.12 meters. Noah Hammond placed 5th in the discus with a throw of 35.24 meters.
On the women's side, they continued the success, with multiple Lions earning first place and breaking school records. Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH / Lakota West), came in first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.70. Anna Schoster (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) continued her success and won first in multiple events. In the 100 meter hurdles she finished with a time of 15.90 and in the pole vault she cleared 3.33 meters, both good for first place. Ashley Klosterman (Celina, OH / Celina) came in first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.68. Andi Meyer (Ft. Loramie, OH / Ft. Loramie) jumped 1.61 meters in the high jump to win the event. It was great showing for the Lions throwers. Kierstin Lux (Waldron, IN / Waldron) and Haley Warndorf (Ludlow, KY / Ludlow) finished 4th and 5th in shot put with throws of 9.81 meters and 9.62 meters, respectively. Lux and Warndorf also did well in the discus and hammer throw. Lux finished 3rd in the discus throw with a distance of 34.75M and 2nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.30M. Warndorf finished 5th in the discus throw with a distance of 32.04M and 4th in the hammer throw with a distance of 34.66M.
