DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph University track & field team traveled to Defiance College this past weekend to take part in the HCAC Indoor Championship. The Lions broke multiple personal records en route to a 7th place finish by the women's and a 9th place finish by the men's. Five Lions athletes also made the podium to represent the Mount.
Starting with the men's, Arvonte Neal (Florence, Ariz. / Florence) found himself on the podium following a 2nd place in the long jump with a distance of 6.54M. Cameron Willis (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) was up next, representing The Mount on the podium with a 3rd place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.91M. Matt Bruner (Dillsboro, IN / South Dearborn), Isaiah Hale (Crestwood, Ky / Oldham County), Ben Gray (Napoleon, OH / Pettisville) and Luke Danis (Yellow Springs, OH / Carroll) broke the school record in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:42.56 which was good for 7th place. Stark, Hale, Willis, and Grey also earned 5th place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:39.88 which was good for 5th place.
Next, the women's were led by Anna Schoster (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) who earned a spot on the podium in two separate events. In the first event she set a new school record in the 60M hurdles with a time of 9.39 which was good for 3rd place. In her second event she placed 3rd in the pole vault with a height of 3.42M and found herself on the podium yet again. Emma Roth (Cincinnati, OH / Lakota West) broke a school record while also earning a spot on the podium for her 3rd place finish in the 800M with a time of 2:24.90. In the high jump Andi Meyer (Ft. Loramie, OH / Ft. Loramie) placed 4th with a height of 1.55M.
