Three Lions on the men's soccer team land HCAC Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The Mount St. Joseph men's soccer team had a rough 2018 season. They finished sixth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season standings, going 5-12-1 with a 4-5 HCAC record. Despite the record the Lions fought hard every game and three Lions earned honors by the conference in a release made today.

The man leading the charge for the Lions this season was senior Seth Freppon (Cold Spring, KY / Newport Central Catholic) who received a spot on 2nd team all-conference. Freppon played forward for the Lions and led the team in goals with nine total. He also landed third in the conference for most goals in the season. Freppon also had one assist and two game winning goals. This season is Freppon's last with the team and he finishes with 72 games played and 22 goals.

The Lions also congratulate senior Andrew Phelps (Alexandria, KY / Campbell County) who received HCAC Honorable Mention for the 2018 season. Phelps has been an integral of the Lions defense over the last 4 seasons. His attitude and leadership will be missed next year.

The last Lion to receive a conference award is freshman and newly turned goalkeeper Nathan Folop (West Harrison, IN / Oldenburg) receiving a spot on the All-Sportsmanship team. Folop game to the Mount as a field player but stepped up the the plate and became the teams last line of defense in front of the net.  In his debut season he started every game for the Lions. He finished the season in the number one spot in the conference for total saves with 89. We look forward to seeing what Folop will bring to the team in his season's to come.
