A physical game for the Lions as they come up short giving up a goal in the second half that resulted in a Panther win 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game started off with both teams showing their defensive strength. The Lions showed great hustle covering the field and making their presence felt by the Panthers with multiple athletic defensive plays. They continued to have a very physical game throughout the first half as both teams finished scoreless.
The seniors for Mount St. Joseph were presented at halftime individually. Zach Kuebler, Teddy Kerr, Kyle Damen, Caleb Smith, Tyler Schumann, and Nathan Hornback walked out onto the field accompanied by their families to greet their head coach. Emotions were exchanged as they were acknowledged by their teammates and fans.
The Lions then took to the field to start the second half. The second half was full of contact between the players as the intensity of the game started to take over. The Panthers were able to connect on a goal during the 62nd minute, sneaking the ball through the Lions defenders and executing an impressive header into the back of the net. The battle stayed physical as the Lions fought desperately to get to the goal. The Lions weren't able to come through in the end as the Panthers defeat the Lions 1-0.
The Lions will host Defiance this Saturday 10/29 as they look to take on another conference rival in their annual Pink game at Schueler Field.
