Davis Schaefer will be entering his first year as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Mount St. Joseph.
Coach Schaefer is a product of Lakota West High School where he played for Coach Bill Dreisbach. Schaefer graduated from Lakota West in 2012 and is still the owner of the only no-hitter in Firebird history.
Upon graduation high school Coach Schaefer was awarded a baseball scholarship to NCAA Division II Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. After his freshman season he transfered home to Cincinnati, and to The Mount. He played parts of two seasons in a Lions uniform before shoulder injuries forced him into the coaching world. Over the past three seasons Coach Schaefer has served as a volunteer coach for the Lions and also helped in recruiting.
He spent a season as the pitching coach for the freshman team at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. Then he spent the next five summers running very successful summer baseball teams, including coaching the 18U Cincinnati Royals where 10 of his players recieved offers to play baseball at various levels of the NCAA.
Coach Schaefer is an upbeat and energetic coach, who absolutely loves the game of baseball and Mount St. Joseph University. His pitching staff will utilze Driveline in an effort to increase velocity and improve arm health. Coach Schaefer asks his pitchers to do a couple of things, work hard and compete everyday.
